Week 10 Part 1

Making Blogs Personal
Adding human interest to a post can appeal to people's emotions because it describes personal experiences. This uses the persuasion technique of pathos. It gets people emotionally connected and emotionally involved. For example, the commercials with the dog that you can adopt plays sad music and shows people talking about their feelings. Both factors make people feel extra compelled to adopt that dog. On the other hand, for my clothing business human interest would involve possibly posting a picture that reminds people of moment and makes people want to experience that moment. I could post a picture involving a group of friends all wearing different products, sitting around a bonfire that are all laughing and maybe singing. People would see this and want to experience that moment. That makes the brand seem like less of just another jacket or just another sale but rather clothing that will become a memory. A good time to use this technique is during holidays. A personal post on the holidays will compel people to be customers because you could advertise it in a way that might exhibit an improvement during the holiday if you somehow have this product. Personal blogs should not be weekly though because it doesn't seem professional. A personal post might be good once a month just to have that week that draws people in in a different way. It reminds people that there is a heart to the business. More than that is too much. Overall, personal blogs and adding human interest is helpful sometimes.

  1. Hi, I really like your idea of people sitting around the bonfire, laughing and singing, as a connection to your brand with great memories. I also agree that not all posts should be personal, there is a good balance.
