Week 3 Part 2

Businesses and Their Use of Social Media

1.Guitar Center

https://www.guitarcenter.com

Social media Platforms and Date of Latest Post : Facebook(09/4), Twitter(09/4), Youtube (08/28) and Instagram(09/4)

All these platforms post at very least weekly if not daily.

Guitar Center is doing a great job of staying updated and relevant. As mentioned above all platforms post at the minimum of once a week. All the pictures look great and make me interested in seeing what's new. There are also a lot of posts that involve discounts going on which makes me even more tempted to go look at more on the website. Looking at the media I can see something new everyday on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Then I can go to Youtube and see a video on how to use products and how they sound every week.

2. Studio West
https://www.studiowest.com

Social media Platforms and Date of Latest Post : Facebook(08/27), Twitter(Sep. 12, 2018), Instagram (09/4) and Youtube(2017)

Studio West is all about Instagram and Facebook. Facebook advertises the events and Instagrams shows all the pictures and videos of advertisements. The most used social media is definitely Instagram. The rest of them don't seem to have much activity. Also there following is not as big as I expected on Instagram. They definetly could beef up there media more and put some videos that look more professional and enticing.

3. Zumiez

https://www.zumiez.com

Social media Platforms and Date of Latest Post: Facebook(08/29), Twitter(09/3) , Pinterest(doesn't say), Instagram(09/4) and Youtube(08/21)

Zumiez uses Instagram the mosts and posts daily. Then what follows is twitter and Pinterest. Youtube has a post every couple weeks. Then Facebook has really random posting schedule. For the social media's that do post often though the following is high and they are definitely staying relevant with many followers and active comments.

4. Coach

https://www.coach.com

Social media Platforms and Date of Latest Post : Instagram (09/4), Facebook(09/3) , Twitter(09/3),  Snapchat(09/4), Youtube(08/28) and Pinterest

Coach has a huge following on all of these platforms. The place that Coach posts leasts is Youtube but it is still active. I assume the reason it take a couple weeks to post something new is because the videos look like big quality production clips. Besides that the question isn't how often do they post but how many times in a day do they post.

5. Dicks Sporting Goods

https://www.dickssportinggoods.com

Social media Platforms and Date of Latest Post : Youtube(08/31), Twitter(09/4), Facebook(08/28), Pinterest and Instagram(09/3).

Dicks seems to post the most on Twitter. On Youtube it seems similar to coach though in the sense that it takes time for the next video to come out due to the high quality production. On the other hand suprisingly Instagram isn't the most used. They still have a big following though and are also staying relevant.

Overall all these business use Instagram the most except for Dicks. Instagram seems to get the biggest following and the most likes and comments. Youtube is the least used in all five of these businesses whether it be for a better quality video or not. Facebook if any of them seems to be the social media that is dying down the most. Some of these businesses have put less effort in the Facebook because of that. Some of these brands that I wrote down though keep everything updated on all of them. For a second I considered that maybe it had to do with the age demographic they are going for but it didn't seem to correlate. The connection was that the bigger the business the more relevant and updated it is on all social media platforms.

Comments

  1. I also considered whether the age demographic that was a company's customer base had anything to do with which social media sites they used, but I also found that it didn't correlate. It does seem that the larger, more established companies are the ones that are most consistent and use multiple platforms.
