Week 13 Part 1

Businesses and their Social Advertising

          The first business I looked into was Soul Garments. Soul is still just starting up but it seems like the advertising is working. The instagram is very aesthetic and draws people in. There are around 300 followers and over 250 people are liking these posts so the majority of people are paying attention. The only problem is I don't see a link for a website anywhere. So even if it is doing well there is nowhere to go.
       
          Human Addict was another business I looked at. They are not doing so well on likes. There are 466 followers but the posts are only getting around 30 likes. The pictures do not look too professional so that must be what it is. The only problem is though I think they are not trying to look professional but more relatable. There is also a link to a blog which I think is helpful on the other hand.
       
          Then I looked at Antisocial Clothing Brand. The brand has a great following of 13K but the only problem is the likes are around 540. There is not too much engagement and also again no link to a website. The thing that Antisocial Clothing Brand does well though is it looks very professional and the clothes are presented really well.
       
          Indy Brand Clothing has a following of 264K and they are getting around 3K likes. There is a link to a website which is great. The whole style looks very professional. There are also different kinds of post. There are pictures but also there are cool and different types of videos. Then you click on the website and that looks just as interesting. Their advertising seems very effective to me.
         
          The last business I checked out was called END Clothing. END is doing very well with 2M followers and they are getting around 30K likes with a lot of comments. The Instagram looks very professional. There is a link to a website which also looks great and has a great color scheme to draw the eye. END clothing is doing a great job and their advertising seems very effective.


      On other social medias, besides Instagram, advertising is a little different. Facebook for example does a great job of drawing people in. If you ever click on an ad then it will always keep coming up because it obviously assumes that you are interested. That has happened to me with this sunglasses brand I like. I pressed on it once or twice and now it is the only thing that comes up. The pictures also look really cool and it is usually accompanied by some sort of discount. The ads that are annoying are the ones that I accidentally press but keep coming back somehow. They are also ones that don't look interesting. Also youtube ads are annoying because you are just trying to watch videos. Some ads are more effective than others.

      If I compare the traditional advertising techniques like magazines,newspapers, radio, tv and billboards to modern social media I would say that modern social media is more effective. All these older techniques are much easier to skip through or not see. On TV you can skip through it or not bother listening. On the radio people usually change the station when ads come on. Then magazines, newspapers and billboards are things that you have to somehow walk by to see. On the other hand, everyone has social media and looks at it all the time. People will always crash into ads and have to look at it because people aren't going to stop looking at their phones.
